Prospective Students
I'm Interested -- What's Next?
We're glad that you are interested in our program!
If you are interested in applying to become a Communication Studies major as a freshman, or as a transfer student from another university, please make your application request directly with Undergraduate Admissions. The Department of Communication Studies does not handle application requests directly for first-year students and external transfers, so please do not contact us for admission information.
If you are a current student at Northeastern University and would like to transfer in to the Department and have met the prerequisites*, please come to 101 Lake Hall with a copy of your transcript (an unofficial copy is fine and can be obtained on MyNEU). The head advisor or department chair will then be able to sign you into the major.
If you have more questions about our program (after visiting our FAQs page), are interested in meeting with a faculty member, or would like to take a tour of our facilities, please contact us at 617.373.5517
* Northeastern students wishing to transfer into our major must have a cumulative quality point average of 3.0 overall and must have completed CMN U101 Introduction to Communication Studies and CMN U112 Public Speaking with grades of B or higher. Acceptance into the major will be based on students meeting the department's criteria for admission and availability of space in the program.
