Undergraduate
Transferring to Communicaiton Studies
We're glad that you are interested in our program!
If you are interested in applying to become a Communication Studies major as a freshman, or as a transfer student from another university, please make your application request directly with Undergraduate Admissions.
The Department of Communication Studies does not handle application requests directly for first-year students and external transfers, so please do not contact us for admission information.
If you are a current student at Northeastern University who has met the prerequisites and would like to transfer into the Department, come to 101 Lake Hall with your unofficial transcript (obtainable via MyNEU) and complete a Change of Study Petition Form. Following review, the head advisor will accept you into the major.
If you have more questions about our program (after visiting our FAQs page) please contact us.
*Northeastern students wishing to transfer into our major must have a cumulative quality point average of 3.00 and complete two introductory courses with a grade of B or better.
Required Courses
- COMM 1101 Introduction to Communication Studies
- COMM 1112 Public Speaking

Acceptance into the major will be based on each student meeting the department's criteria for admission and space availability in the program.
Requests to transfer into the major should be submitted to the communication studies department office by October 1, February 1, or July 1.
